Connect Donorbox

Donorbox charges for API access: $17 a month on the Standard plan, included in Pro and Premium. Without it, you can still export donations from Donorbox as a CSV and import them.

Get your API key

  1. Sign in to Donorbox as an admin.
  2. Click Account in the top bar, then API & Zapier Integration.
  3. Turn on API & Zapier Integration and confirm the billing.
  4. Click Set new API Key and copy the key. Donorbox shows it only once.
  5. In Donor Sync, enter the email you sign in to Donorbox with and the key.

Then in the sidebar open Sources, paste the key under Donorbox and click Connect. Donor Sync tests it first and only saves a key that works. After that the key is shown only as its last 4 characters.

What Donor Sync reads

  • Donations, including refunds and the processing fees
  • Recurring plans
  • Campaigns, with goals and totals
  • Donors, for phone numbers (you can turn phone numbers off in Settings)

Donor Sync only reads. It never changes anything in Donorbox.

Good to know

  • Donorbox does not tell apps which donations changed, so every sync re-reads the last 45 days and re-reads the last 13 months once a week.
  • Gifts in other currencies keep their own amount and currency; Donorbox's converted amount is used for reports in your main currency.
