The tabs and reports
Donor Sync rebuilds the report tabs after every sync. Gifts is the source for all of them.
Which gifts count
Reports count gifts with the status Paid, Partially refunded or Disputed, net of any refund. Refunded, failed, pending and cancelled gifts are kept in the Gifts tab but not counted. In Settings you can leave tickets, memberships and sales out of the totals.
Tabs

How donors are matched
By email first (ignoring case and spaces). Without an email, by name and postal code. Two donors with the same name but different emails stay separate and are flagged in "Possible duplicate" so you can check.
Retention
Donor Sync uses the Fundraising Effectiveness Project's definitions:
- Overall retention: donors from last year who gave again this year, divided by all of last year's donors.
- New donor retention: the same, for donors whose first gift ever was last year.
- Repeat donor retention: the same, for last year's donors who had also given before.
- Attrition: last year's donors who have not given this year, as a share of last year's donors.
"This year so far" rises through the year; compare it with the same point last year rather than with a full year.
Segments
- New: first gift ever this year.
- Retained: gave this year and last year.
- Recaptured: gave this year, not last year, but in an earlier year.
- LYBUNT (last year but unfortunately not this year): gave last year, not yet this year.
- SYBUNT (some year but unfortunately not this year): gave in an earlier year within the window you choose (3 years by default), not last year or this year.
- Lapsed: last gave before the SYBUNT window.
Years and currencies
Choose calendar or fiscal years in Settings; a fiscal year is named after the year it ends in. Statements always use calendar years. Reports use one currency: the one most of your gifts are in, unless you set another in Settings. Gifts in other currencies are left out of totals unless the platform gives a converted amount.
